LHCR is working with Louisiana Home Health Agencies (HHAs)
to improve the quality of care through the Outcomes Based
Quality Improvement (OBQI) system. This nation-wide system,
developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
(CMS) and based on OASIS data, assists HHAs in formulating a
plan of action to increase the standards of care they
provide.

OASIS
and OBQI Can Improve Nursing Practice -
Nursing Staff might not understand the direct
effect OASIS data can have on OBQI outcome results, and
ultimately on an agency's operations. Therefore, don't
underestimate the importance of educating field staff. The
fastest way to alienate staff is to keep them from seeing
the clinical relevance of their activities. Informing
clinical staff about the relationship of OASIS and OBQI will
help keep them committed to the quality improvement plan and
will ultimately improve your outcomes and benefit patients. |
